Paul Cahill (Australian rules footballer)
Paul Cahill (born 19 October 1990) is an Australian rules footballer in the AFL with the St Kilda Football Club.
Career
Paul Cahill was drafted with selection #74 overall by St Kilda in the 2008 AFL Draft and is yet to make his debut.
He played in the NAB State U18 Championships in 2008 for South Australia as their centre half forward and lead the competition in contested marks. Also in these championship he impressed recruiters with his large vertical leaping abilities and amazing agility for his height. In one match against Victoria Metro he dominated against who was later chosen as #5 draft pick of the Essendon Football Club, Michael Hurley.
Cahill was touted to be a reasonably high draft pick before the 2008 AFL Draft but many clubs chose to pass on him despite his undeniable talent due to attitude issues.
As a junior, Cahill started off playing for Blackwood Football Club U17s where he excelled and soon found himself playing in the higher level SANFL U17s competition with the Sturt Football Club. He made The Step up and continued to dominate winning the McCullum Medal for the best player in the league. The year after he moved to Sturt U19s level and was up to the new challenge. After a lot of eye-catching performances recruiters started to take notice and it was not long before he was considered among Australian Football's elite young talent.
There have been reports that the St. Kilda selectors May Be considering removing Cahill from the senior list due to problems during training sessions.
