Pascal Leo Cormier

Pascal Leo Cormier(also known under the signature Payazo) (born a clown on November 27th, 1982 in Robertville, New Brunswick, Canada) Pascal Leo Cormier was raised in the forest by bears. He is today an ACTIVE visual Artist residing in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Artistic style

He is known to paint "cute & creepy" paintings that often depict clowns and semi human / semi animal looking creatures in often cloudy scapes. Mellow dramatic Pop Surrealism might be a proper description of his work. His paintings are often melancholic in nature but with a grain of hope. His paintings often deal with religious and political issues, sometimes in subtle and symbolic ways and sometimes blatantly satirical.

Exhibitions

Cormier has had numerous art exhibits, primarily in Moncton, New Brunswick, including the Aberdeen Cultural Center "Salle Sans Sous" Gallery( May–July 2008), the Maelstrom Café/Gallery (October–December 2008), the Moncton Capitol Theatre Gallery (September–November 2009) and the Moncton City Hall (November–December 2009) including works on display in a few public places in the city of Moncton.

His last exhibition "A Brief History of Liberty" was a exhibited in the Moncton City Hall(November-December 2009) and later very successfully in the Galerie Bernard-Jean in the Caraquet Cultural Center(January-February 2010) (Promotional Article(French)) for the opening year of the gallery.

He will be showing works in the CBC George Goguen Gallery, Moncton in November 2010.

Media attention

In 2007 Cormier was featured in the Moncton BOOM Magazine(R.I.P.) for an exhibition he had in Café Joe Mocka in Moncton. In 2009 he was recognized and interviewed by many of the provincial and Atlantic media, especially the French Acadian media for his many exhibitions and live paintings including:

Live painting

Pascal Leo Cormier a.k.a. Payazo has done numerous onstage live painting performances with bands such as:

Pascal Lejeune, Kevin McIntyre, Fous Tziganes/Wild Gypsies, Morse Code Alphabet and more prominently with the band Something Delicious. He has also done Live Paintings for Poetry Events, music festivals and once for a reception of New Brunswick Mayors at the Moncton City Hall, accompanied by his friend and fellow painter Mario Landry.

Politics and religion

Pascal L. Cormier is a strong believer in Protestant Reformation Liberty and is part of the Free Man movement.
