Pan European University

The Bratislava School of Law (also known as Bratislava College of Law or Bratislava University; ) is a private institute of higher education located in Bratislava, Slovakia. It was established on July 14, 2004.

Name

Despite the word "Law" in the name, the School offers a variety of education programmes and courses. Because of the new faculties and divisions opened, the School would like to change its name.

History

The Bratislava School of Law was founded in 2004 by a non-profit organisation, Bratislavská akademická spoločnosť (English: Bratislava Academic Society). The establishment of the School is often credited to Ján Čarnogurský, a former Slovak prime minister, and member of the Academic Society. It was founded as the 28th College in Slovakia and the fourth private college.

Faculties and Institutes

As of July 2007 the School has four Faculties:

Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law was founded in 2004: it is the School's oldest faculty. It offers courses in law, especially focusing on international and European law. Teaching is bilingual and multilingual. After three years of study students may attain the Bachelor's degree, or after two more years the Master of Laws degree.

The Faculty is a member of the international ERASMUS programme and the academic programme ELPIS. The Dean of the Faculty is the former Chief Commander of the Slovak Police Jaroslav Ivor. The main building of the Faculty of Law is on Tomášikova street in Ružinov, Bratislava. The building was opened on September 26, 2006. The Faculty also has a seat in Brno.

Faculty of Economics and Business

The Faculty of Economics and Business (abbreviated as "FEP") was founded in July 2005. There are three levels of study: Bachelor level, Engineer level and Postgraduate level. The Dean of the Faculty is Milan Rajňák. The Faculty's building is located on Tematínska Street in Petržalka, Bratislava.

Faculty of Mass Media

The Faculty of Mass Media was founded in February 2007. It offers courses in mass-media and marketing communication. The Faculty is newly-opened for the 2007/08 academic year.

Faculty of Informatics

The Faculty of Informatics was founded in 2008, opened in the academic year 2008/09. It offers a course in applied informatics.
