Pamorn Martdee
Pamorn Martdee (born Pamorn Luuk Hill-Martdee on February 18, 1988) is a professional Muay Thai/kickboxing Athlete who was born in Subiaco, Western Australia.
Martdee is a Muay Thai fighter known for his all-round skill, ring smarts and sportsmanship in and outside the ring.
He became the 2005 WPMF (World Professional Muay Thai Federation) Welterweight Australian Champion at age 17 and was ranked number one in Australia in 2007 for the contender to win the (World Boxing Council) WBC Muay Thai National Title.
His father is from Thailand and his mother from New Zealand. He is the oldest of three children, having one younger sister and one younger brother.
Fight career
He started training Muay Thai at the age of 12. In January 2003 he was trained up to fight fellow town rival, 16-year-old Steve Zankl. He won by unanimous decision. Pamorn also went on to win the 'Most Outstanding Fighter Award' on the same night of his debut.
At the World Championships in 2005, Pamorn fought in the final against Russia's Mikel Kubaiyan, narrowly losing out to claim the silver medal. Later that year, won the Australian championship title in the welterweight division. Later, in August 2005, he went on to beat fellow rival Steve Zankl for the welterweight Australian Title by points decision.
In 2006, Pamorn went on to live and train in Thailand. In April 2007 he fought at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium against England's Michael Sor Kor Pira on one of Lumpinee's Saengmorakot promotions. He won by knockout in round four.
In 2007, he fought for the WBC Muay Thai National Title up against Yusha Ozhan, where he lost by KO in round 5 after clearly leading the rounds on the judges score cards the whole fight. His head hit the canvas after falling 20 seconds from the final bell.
Recent
Martdee made a return to the ring in May 2009 against Belarusian Parviz Iskenderov in a non-contest 3 round display bout on the Perth based promotion "WBC Muay Thai Battle Collossal VI."
