Pakistani occupation of Paktika province
The Gudwana Enclave refers to the alleged military occupation of lands inside Afghanistan's Paktika province. The supposed occupation began on February 27, 2026, after a Pakistani offensive.
Offensive
On 27 February, 2026, Pakistani forces allegedly seized the enclave after capturing multiple Taliban border posts.
Territorial control
On 27 March, it was reported that Pakistan had fenced off and occupied 32 square kilometers of land in Paktika province. No visible fence line could be seen on 20 March, but by 23 March satellite imagery showed a new fence had been built 12 kilometers inside Afghan territory. BBC Dari also reported that a second fence was built at the near the same area, more than 13.5 kilometers inside Afghan territory.
Reactions
The Afghan Ministry of Defense said that Mali Khan Siddiq, the deputy army chief of the Afghan armed forces, had visited border areas in Paktika and dismissed claims that Pakistani forces had occupied Terwa district as false propaganda.
