Pack for a Purpose is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Introduction

Created in December of 2009, Pack for a Purpose was founded by Rebecca Rothney as a way to provide travelers with information to use a small amount of space in their luggage to provided needed items to community based projects in destinations around the world.

Before departing, travelers can access the Pack For a Purpose Web site to find participating lodges in the areas where they are visiting. All accommodations listed have been confirmed to be doing valid community based projects through web research and referrals from travel agents. Information on participating Ecolodges and resorts as well as needed items for each location are updated regularly and include sites in Africa, Asia, North America, South America, and Europe. Once a traveler arrives, all locations will collect the items and distribute them to the local community based projects.
