Philosophy of the One4One Program

The One4One Program is a self-empowerment program based on the practice of the idea that one person can and does make a difference. 1) The individual gardeners plant their own gardens, whether it is a backyard space, a portable adaptable system or a plot in a community garden. 2) Each gardener chooses which vegetables/fruit they want to grow for their families. 3) The gardeners decide which plant that they would like to dedicate the yield of for the season to the local One4One team. Many people like to donate a variety of vegetables and fruit (whatever they have a surplus of throughout the season). The U.S.A. has always been a food producing nation. We have a tradition of backyard summer gardens, sharing and trading our bounty with our neighbors, friends and family. The One4One program promotes the traditions of families working together on a shared community project, restoring our tradition of growing & providing food for our families. It also continues to demonstrate the wonderful generous altruistic nature the American people are known for throughout the world. We have the highest volunteer rate per capita around the world. The One4One Food Project promotes “food for family, friends and neighbors by family, friends and neighbors. When we take care of our communities and those in need we take care of ourselves.” One4One is an educational program. As we inspire our youth to become involved with their local community food programs, they learn life skills, compassion and how an individual does have the ability to make a positive contribution to their community as well as the world. “Compassion is grown from the ground up..............”
