Early History
Oh Snap! originated in Victoria, Canada with a chance meeting between Mitch Vinet (guitar, vocals), Gord McGladdery (guitar, vocals), and Sean Rousseau (drums, vocals) at a lingerie party. Darren Minifie (bass, vocals) later joined the trio while living in the same cluster building as Sean at the University of Victoria. Sean's cluster apartment is where the band initially practiced.
The four members started off with the band name Sanijav, and in 2006, they independently released a self-titled EP. This debut EP was recorded with Scott Henderson, who has also worked with Wolf Parade, and Immaculate Machine. The group of four played many shows throughout Vancouver Island and in Vancouver, and won a battle of the bands in Victoria.
Present Day
Oh Snap! has currently released their debut full length album, Flap Harder. This twelve-track album was also recorded with Scott Henderson, and has already accumulated a lot of positive acclaim since its release in February, 2009. The band presently plays regularly in and around Victoria, and are preparing for a western Canadian tour ending in Winnipeg.
Oh Snap! is the April, 2009, 91.3 The Zone (Victoria's main modern rock radio station, CJZN-FM) Band of the Month. The radio station is currently playing the single "Involuntary" from Oh Snap!'s album Flap Harder four to five times per day.
