OESIS Framework

The OPSWAT product OESIS Framework is a cross-platform software framework, middleware and SDK that provides software engineers with a single interface to manage third party software vendors.

Used in patch management and support applications, OESIS is also the industry standard toolkit to create compliance and manageability solutions like SSL VPN and network access control. Without inclusion in this framework, security software like antivirus is unable to be detected by applications that employ OESIS. If a user is, for example, trying to log on to a network whose security policy requires that an up to date antivirus application be installed, that user must employ a product on the supported application list or risk being denied entry.

As of April 2010 over 50 different OEMs are licensing OESIS, including Cisco Systems, F5 Networks and Juniper Networks.

The libraries of OESIS Framework contain thousands of applications and provide modules to detect and manage the following application types:

Components

OESIS Local – contains the embedded libraries of supported applications.

OESIS Monitor – an XML data service which reports the update patterns for antivirus and antispyware applications. OESIS Framework customers are provided with details of each update within minutes of release by the vendor. OESIS Monitor enables technology vendors to check the exact update status of applications detected by OESIS Local.

Update Verify – a utility which can be employed to compare the difference between OESIS Local and OESIS Monitor, allowing those that use it to create products with policies which require up-to-date applications and definitions.
