Nyra (Guardians of Ga'Hoole)

Nyra has been the leader of the Pure Ones since her mate, Kludd died in the battle of The Burning. She has a diagonal slash on her face where Otulissa scratched her after Nyra killed Strix Struma. Eglantine throught Nyra was her mother, but she was really being shattered by flecks Ginger sneaked into her nest. Nyra had an egg, but Eglantine stole it and it was eventually destroyed. Before the Battle of the Burning, Nyra lays another egg, and after the battle, it hatches during a lunar eclipse. Nyra teaches her son, Nyroc how to be a Pure One, with the few Pure Ones that are left. After Nyroc flees, she tracks him with the help of Doc Finebeak, a freelance tracker. She catches up to them when Nyroc and his friend Dustytuff are stuck in a vicious current of air. She kills Phillip, and Nyroc flies off. In "The Outcast" she kills the Rouge Smith of Silverveil, and takes her place. She gets pictures of humans with green eyes from Trader Mags, and goes to Beyond the Beyond to give them to the leader of the MacDuncan clan. The two forge an alliance, and the Pure Ones arrive at Beyond the Beyond. There is a battle between the MacHeath clan, who are helped by Coryn and his friends, and the MacDuncan clan, who are helped by the Pure Ones. Nyra escapes after the battle. In "The Golden Tree" Nyra is discovered to be a hagsfiend, and a remnant Pure One force is still with an allience with the MacDuncan clan. She wants the Book of Kreeth to resurrect a better Nyroc. Cody dies defending the book, and Nyra fails. She was once thought to have great beauty. This is to deceive owls that she's an owl. After her defeat at Beyond the Beyond, she is said to have pare patches of skin, and her face is ragged. Stryker even sees the outside of her feathers on her facial disk turn black. This means she is close to becoming a hagsfiend.
