History and Growth

In 2004, Gregory Novak and Tracy Druce formed Novak Druce + Quigg with offices in Houston, TX and Washington, D.C. By 2007, the firm had over 30 professionals and opened an office in San Francisco. Two years later, in February 2009, the firm opened an office in West Palm Beach, FL with professionals from the IP Practice of Florida-based Akerman Senterfitt.

In 2004 Donald J. Quigg joined the firm as a senior partner. Mr. Quigg served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Commissioner of the USPTO (1985-1990); former Deputy Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks (1981-1985); and former General Patent Counsel of Phillips Petroleum (1971 - 1981). Mr. Quigg has also served as the head of the United States Delegations to United Nations meetings on industrial property matters and on the President's Committee on Industrial Innovation and United States Delegations.

Novak Druce Centre for Professional Service Firms

The Novak Druce Centre for Professional Service Firms at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School launched on October 5, 2009. The Centre explores key challenges confronting the professional services sector, conducts research, and provides training to further the advancement of the management of professional service firms. Mr. Novak earned an MBA from the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford where he was affiliated with Hertford College. He is the first graduate of Oxford’s business school to sponsor a research center.
