Nottingham Malaysian Night

Nottingham Malaysian Night, or better known as MNite among the Nottingham Malaysian Society (NMS) members, is a show filled with the passion and spirit of the unique Malaysian culture. Each year without fail, new NMS members (usually the freshers) will come together to make their MNite better than the year before, by putting up one of the best Malaysian plays within the land of England, Scotland and Wales, accompanied with sounds, lightings, tunes, dances and specially selected costumes to keep the viewer in awe throughout the night.

History

MNite is seen as a test ground for The New members in familiarizing themselves to the university life, while maintaining the fun and laughter in doing something out of the academic scope. It requires its members' support, a high degree of communication and commitment in order to make it a success, and it is the most direct way for the new members to get involved in the society by means of performing or producing and coming together as a team to make something happen. It is also the stage for future NMS leaders, where the performances and contributions of each individual new members in this event will be taken into account for the next election of NMS Committee.

The NMS MNite is a well established Malaysian Night among the Malaysian student population within the United Kingdom, and it is said to be one of the four important Malaysian NiGHTS. The other famous Malaysian Nights are from the University of Warwick, University College London (UCL) and Imperial College London.

Themes

GeneRally, MNite will try to bring the audience into the realm of Malaysian culture, where there exists people from different sets of religion, race and social background, and yet they can live in a big multi-cultural society while maintaining each and every aspect of their unique and rich values of life.
