The PBA tour's fifth event of 1960, the $18,100 Northern California PBA open, was held at Castle Lanes, in San Francisco, California. The first day of PBA competition was June 24, 1960. The competition ran until June 26. 24 bowlers cashed in this competition. Earl Johnson of Minneapolis, MN won his first title and took home the first prize of $2,500. Rounding out the top 5 were Steve Nagy, Ed Shuler, Harry Smith, Bob Chase.
