The Northeast Ohio Panthers are an indoor football team based in Warren, Ohio. They were formerly a member of the Eastern Indoor Football League, which is not affiliated with the Arena Football League or af2. However, they left because of lack of insurance, and will be seeking membership elsewhere for 2009.
The North East Ohio Panthers recently changed their name to The Trumbull County Panthers. The name and arena will be announced in the fall of 2008. They have decided to field an elite outdoor team for the 2008 season. This is said to be one of the very few Minor League teams where coaches and players will get paid. John Galbraith took over as the President of the team. Carl Diggs a former standout from the University of Michigan and a Warren Harding graduate is said to interested in playing for the team. The outdoor team will compete in The United States Football Alliance. The name of the outdoor team is still undecided.
They will be fielding a pro indoor team in the 2009 season. It is said that Galbraith has a lot of backing from the Warren, Ohio community. Galbraith has stated in the past that he is focusing on local talent and all his players will be from the Trumbull, Mahoning counties.
