Nkinga
Nkinga is one of the village and ward in Igunga district in Tabora region. Nkinga village is one of the oldest villages in Tabora region where the first Pentecostal missioneries from Sweden came and established a church and a dispensary. A swedish missionery pastor Johnsson and his wife came to spead christianity in Nyawa Kingdom in mid 1930's. They established the first pentecostal church in Igunga district. Also pastor Johnsson and his wife built a first dispensary in the area. The dispensary grew to a big hospital serving patients from as far as Kigoma and other distant areas. The hospital still serving todate under the management of the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania missionary. Nkinga was also the first place where a missionary primary school was built. The pentecostal missionery built the school in early 1950's. Many children from Nkinga and neighbouring villages were able to attend primary school. Nkinga is also the place where the first Airport for small aircrafts in Igunga district was built by the missionery. The native people of Nkinga are Wanyamwezi. But other tribes came and live there..among them are Wanyiramba, Wasukuma, Wanyaturu and Waha. Main food of Nkinga is Ugali and other Wanyamwezi foods like cassava, potatoes and rice. The main refreshing drink is the local beer known as Makangala, also Gongo or locally brewed alcohol is taken secretly due to the fact that, making, supply and consuming of the stuff is illegal in Tanzania. To the time being, Nkinga has grown up to be the second largest business centre in Igunga district after Igunga town itself. Restaurants and Guest houses are available for people who visit Nkinga either for business or attending hospital. Shops are many in Nkinga from petty traders to wholesalers. Many people from neighbouring villages do visit a weekly auction every saturday known as Gulio, where traders from Nzega, Tabora and Igunga bring different consumer stuffs to sale. Nkinga has many Educational institutions, these are Nkinga Nursing College, Nkinga Laboratory Institute and Nkinga English Medium School which are run by the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania. Others are Ulaya secondary school and a government secondary school of Nkinga. Primary schools are Nkinga, Mwazumbi and Njiapanda. Nkinga is the fastest growing village in Tabora region which attracts many businesses and workers to dwell in. It is estimated that the population of Nkinga village itself is 6,000 in 2006 and an increase of 360 people per annum. The Nkinga ward according to the 2002 census has AbOUT 14,000 people.
