History
The college was founded by Mar Sebastian Vallopilly, the first Bishop of the Thalassery Archeparchy, to address the lack of higher educational facilities in the North Malabar region. It commenced functional operations in 1964 as a junior college under the University of Kerala, starting with a modest intake of 397 students and 11 instructors under its first principal, Rev. Dr. Antony Kurialacherry.
Degree tracks were initiated in 1967 for Mathematics, Zoology, Chemistry, and Economics, coinciding with a transition of institutional affiliation to the University of Calicut in 1968. Following the reorganization of regional university jurisdictions, the college was formally aligned under Kannur University. In 2024, the college was granted absolute **Autonomous status** by the University Grants Commission (UGC)
