Nikos Konstantinidis

Nikos Konstantinidis is a controversial Greek journalist and conspiracy theorist on the Greek private TV channel OPION.

TV-Show

Nikos Konstantinidis' television show is named Η ΩΡΑ ΤΟΥ ΛΑΟΥ (The Hour of the People). It is named so apparently because it lasts approximately one hour and gives viewers the chance to speak through the show via telephone, expressing their opinions and arguments. The show is about "interesting subjects concerning the current events" and covers mostly national and religious issues. In his TV show Konstantinidis speaks (or, according to others, preaches) about so-called "traditional Greek values" : motherland, Orthodox faith, civilization, democracy, freedom, and opposition to Turkey.

Every episode of the show starts with his one-minute Good Morning: "Good morning from the depths of my soul

Peronal claims and actions

According to his claims, he is a simple soldier of Hellenism and the Orthodox faith. He incites people to resist against the Antichrist who has already started invading our lives. He considers bar codes and electronic identification cards to be examples of this invasion.

Konstantinidis openly expresses his hatred for politicians and political parties; he claims that because of them, he has been imprisoned at least six times. Despite of his claims to be in favour of democracy and against fascism, he systematically proclaims that "people cannot trust politicians. Only the army, the police, and the church are to be trusted".

Style

During his TV show, Nikos Konstantinidis looks straight into the camera, as to maintain firm eye contact with his listener. The image at the top of this article is taken from his show. It is typical of him to ask questions and answer them in a rhetoric manner ("What have the politicians done for us? NOTHING!") He often loses his temper and shouts. He often hangs up on callers, either because they disagree with him or because they are non-orthodox or foreigners.

Books

Nikos Konstantinidis has written two books which he frequently advertises during his TV show. The first is The Great Treason of Greece and the People, in which he presents his claims that all politicians have betrayed Greek values and rule dictatorically and against the will of the people. On the cover is a picture of a large shark swallowing people holding Greek flags.

On the cover of his second book there is a picture of the head of Darth Vader with the title The Antichrist 666. Resist!

Anyone can obtain his books by contacting him during his TV show. As the show is broadcast live, callers frequently interrupt him on air with book orders. Konstantinidis writes down any order in person. He sends his books via courier, which the client is charged for as well.

Konstantinidis has recently written a third book. Η ΩΡΑ ΤΟΥ ΛΑΟΥ (The Hour of the People). Its content is similar to his first book.

Cast

On his TV show he is accompanied by Mr. Maniaras and Father Modestos.

Maniaras acts as an experienced anti-orthodox, anti-Greek, dark conspiracy-uncoverer, using naive examples to prove the existence of anti-hellenic global conspiracies. An example is the American television serieses Hercules and Xena:Warrior Princess, which, according to him, mix Greek mythology with foreign elements in order to promote globalization.

Father Modestos holds a cross and blesses whoever calls the TV show and also his friends and relatives.

New cast

In his current TV show, Konstantinidis is accompanied by Father Vasilios, Theodora Matana and K. Barbaliou.

Attack by the Antichrist

In 2006 Konstantinidis was bitten by a stray dog. In his next appearance on his television show, he showed pictures of the bite marks on his leg and declared that the dog was an incarnation of the Antichrist.

Career in telemarketing

Some years ago, Nikos Konstantinidis, in addition to his regular show, presented advertisements for Kochen, a furniture company.
