New Horizon Scholars School

New Horizon Scholars School located in Sector 13, Airoli, Navi Mumbai, is a primary and secondary school. The pre-primary of the school is known as Neo Kids. The school is following CBSE curriculum. The school's chairman is Mr. Subir Kumar Banerjee, the Secretary is Mrs. Suvra Baanerjee the director is Dr. Nicholas Correa, and the principal is Dr. Jyoti Nair.

History

The school is run by Nagar Yuwak Shikshan Sanstha Airoli, also known as NYSS. The school was inaugurated by the Chairman of NYSS, Mr. Subir Kumar Banerjee on 3rd March 2010. The first Academic Year commenced on 21 June 2010.

Curriculum

The school follows the national syllabus as prescribed by Central Board of Secondary Education. The school focuses more on learning by doing, and follows continuous and comprehensive evaluation for all classes. There are no examinations in The Primary and pre-primary classes, but students are evaluated on a continuous basis.

Home Assignments:

Children are given very interesting and creative home assignments which make them explore, interact and learn. Home assignments are innovative, creative and useful. They promote scientific temper, power of observation, habit of reading and keen interest in the subject.

Evaluation:

school follows Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation for all classes. It consists of formative and summative evaluation. There are no examinations in the Pre-Primary and primary classes. Children are evaluated on a continuous basis. The evaluation is student friendly.

  • Literary activities: Creative Writing, Descriptive Writing, Story Writing, Essay Writing, Poem Writing, Caption Writing, Quiz, Vocabulary Contest , etc.
  • Physical education and sports: Physical education is being conducted for the physical development of the children.
  • Special activities: Child must choose any one of the special activities given in the list as, skating, chess, classical dance, folk dance, table tennis, karate, etc.
  • Club activities: Science club, Nature club, Social club, Art club, Music club, etc.

There are trained students counselors in the school, who counsel students in need. Major focus is given to the cognitive, affective and psycho-motor domains of students. The curriculum includes language development, joy of mathematics, environment studies , weekly interactive sessions, "smart sessions" and co-scholastic subjects. Good eating habits also form an important part of the curriculum in the school.

The school provides bus service for the student to travel regularly from in and around Airoli and other areas including Vashi, Mulund, Bhandup, Vikroli, Powai, Thane and Mumbra.
