New Grays Athletic Stadium
The New Grays Athletic Stadium is a proposed football stadium which would be built in the borough of Thurrock, and will replace the New Recreation Ground as the home stadium of Grays Athletic Football Club. The project was announced on April 12, 2008 by Grays Athletic chairman and manager Micky Woodward.
The initial location of the new stadium was in Aveley. However, the club later announced that the relocation plans to move to Aveley would not be pursued. In July 2008, Thurrock Council and Grays Athletic released a joint statement announcing that the new location would be the Blackshots area of north Grays.
The stadium is intended to have a capacity of 7,500, as well as other facilities such as a leisure centre including a gymnasium and sports hall, two adult size and one children's size artificial turf pitches, function rooms and a bar.
