Net@nite
net@nite is a weekly live internet radio and video(on ustream.tv as of April 29, 2007) show hosted by Amber MacArthur and Leo Laporte. It was added to the TWiT.tv network on November 8 2006 and is the first of the TWiT shows to be broadcast live on the internet. net@nite showcases new, fun, and interesting things that MacArthur finds online. It replaced a previous show, Inside the Net, in which MacArthur and Laporte interviewed the innovators and developers behind Web 2.0 sites and applications. Laporte indicated, however, that occasional episodes of Inside the Net may still be produced in the future.
The show is broadcast every Sunday night at 7:00 PM ET (pre-show begins at 6:30) using TalkShoe, which enables listeners to contact the hosts through text and voice chat. The live aspect gives the podcast a new level of interaction for consumers who are able to call in and ask questions of Laporte and MacArthur. It is also distributed as a podcast every Tuesday via the Inside the Net RSS feed. New shows have not been produced since September 25, 2007 due to scheduling difficulties.
On October 18, 2007, Laporte wrote on his blog that the show has been revamped. The New show will not be live, but will be released on Wednesdays. It will consist of several segments, such as news and best web pick of the week. Laporte hopes that a video version will be released, as well, using new iChat features. The new format will begin on Wednesday, November 7, 2007.
