Nennifer
Nennifer is the dread bastion of The Council of Scrutators in Ian Irvine's The Well of Echoes quartet. Nennifer is located in the Desolation Sink and was one of the most isolated places on Santhenar. It is an ugly, multi-storied building and is bland in the extreme. It is rectangular in shape and symbolises the control of the scrutators over the world.
Few people had ever even heard of the Scrutators' fortress of Nennifer, but after the invention of air floaters, Nennifer’s location was revealed and the revealing of their secret location came as quite a shock to the Council. Nennifer's isolation could prove to be more of a handicap than an advantage now.
Nennifer is home to hundreds of mancers, artificers and artisans as well as the Council. They work night and day to create weapons of the Secret Art to make use of in the war against the lyrinx and have been hardened by their cruel over-lords.
Nennifer is home to one of the most powerful nodes in the world, as it is one of seven controlling nodes. The field is constantly being drained at Nennifer, for the Council is constantly working their Art and the mancers under its rule, are continuously creating more and more devices of the Art, powered by the field. Nennifer itself is sustained by the Secret Art.
