National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka

National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka(NCE) is one of the leading business chambers in Sri Lanka which exclusively serves Sri Lankan exporters.

History

The NCE was originally established as the National Exporters Association (NEA) in 1986 by its Founder President Patrick Amarasinghe. It was incorporated as the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) on 18 July 1994 as the successor to the NEA. The Chamber which has a membership of over 450 export oriented member companies covering all products & most services sectors, as well as service providers to exporters.

Mission

To create a dynamic export sector that will help Sri Lanka meet its Socio-Economic challenges with emphasis on employment generation and foreign exchange earning in achieving total Economic Independence.

Objectives

  • To promote and protect trade, commerce and industries of member exporters of Sri Lanka.
  • Serves as a forum to discuss export related subjects and make policy recommendations to Governments.
  • Make representations to the relevant state authorities regarding operational issues which affect member exporters in particular, and the exporter community in general.
  • Assist direct and indirect exporters to become internationally competitive.
  • To bring AbOUT a friendly feeling among the members of the Chamber on all subjects involving their common good.

Services

Certificates of Origin

The NCE is a designated Chamber of the state authorities to issue ‘Certificates of Origin’ and related documents to member & non-member exporters.

Workshops & Training Programs

Conducts Workshops and Training Seminars on export related subjects.

Trade Information

Provides trade related information and advisory services & links member exporters with prospective buyers.

Sri Lanka Exporter Magazine

The NCE publishes a high quality quarterly Sri Lanka Exporter Magazine, which carries articles and statistical information on export markets and other subjects of interest to Sri Lankan exporters. The magazine is distributed to important local and overseas trade points. Complementary copies are provided to members.

Trade Promotion

The chamber promotes Sri Lankan exports in international markets by participating in International Trade Fairs, Exhibitions, Buyer Seller meets, Inwards & Outward Trade Delegations and other Trade Forums.

Overseas Trade Representatives

The NCE is represented by overseas representatives in selected countries. Member companies are facilitated access to appointed overseas representatives and receive assistance from them to promote their products & services.

UNIDO assisted services

The NCE is one of two private sector Chambers selected by UNIDO under a special project to provide specialized certificates and related training required by Sri Lankan exporters to enter discerning markets.

Annual Export Awards

Conducts annual Export Awards to recognize export performance of members and non members to motivate them to achieve higher goals.

Trade Promotion Division

The Chamber has established a new Trade Promotion Division in order to promote member exports to the international market by engaging in trade promotional activities. The objective is to enhance the export of products & services of the members throughout the world. With the rapid growth of the global economy, and in the background of a very competitive environment, the Trade Promotion Division is expected to link prospective buyers by participating in overseas trade development activities.

The NCE Trade Promotion Division focuses on the following;

  • Participates in overseas and local Exhibitions and Trade Fairs
  • Organizes B2B meetings in foreign countries
  • Organizes Inward & Outward business delegations
  • Establishes Chamber to Chamber contacts
