Nancy Nancy (film)
Nancy Nancy is a 2007 thriller film written and directed by Timothy Spanos. The film is a black comedy MusicAL AbOUT Stockholm's Syndrome Carole (Polly Stanton) and Jim (Michael Burkett) are a pair of orphaned backward siblings who lead and narrow minded life in an isolated seaside town called Coronet Bay. On a chilly Tuesday night, a knock at the door changes their lives forever when an unknown identity known only as Nancy Nancy (Tim Burns) abruptly enters their abode and takes over residency. A dancer, lover, monster, killer, Nancy Nancy terrorizes The Siblings in the most bizare and peculiar manner.
The original song score was written by The Mavis's front man Matt Thomas and writer/director Timothy Spanos. The songs included are the 1980's HNRG inspired "Night Games", the poppy calypso styled Moonlight & Magic and the dreamy ballad "The Eighth Wonder". The film had its world premiere in Atlanta, USA in 2006 where it was awarded Best Comedy Feature. It would be the final film for australian actor MIchael Burkett who died after a long illness before the film was released. Tim Burns, Polly Stanton, Michael Burkett and Matt Thomas all had siginificant roles in Spanos's first film Prisoner Queen.
Nancy Nancy received favourable reviews in the USA and likened the film to the style of John Waters and Paul Morrissey rolled into one.
The film was shot on location in Coronet Bay, Victoria. In 2007 Timothy Spanos released a spin off movie titled Moonlight & Magic, where we follow the Nancy Nancy character in its lead up to this film. Tim Burns reprised the role. Due to popular demand there are plans to release both films on dvd in the future.
