Nadaka
Nadaka is a Canadian-born Indian guitarist best known for his rendition of traditional Indian classical music on a modified guitar specially adapted for Indian music.
Nadaka was born in Quebec, and learned to play the guitar at an early age. At 16, he went on a pilgrimage to India, which he adopted as his home country. He has lived in the international settlement of Auroville in South India since 1974. He has studied Indian music and is practiced in a number of traditional styles of Indian string music and singing.
Nadaka designed and built an acoustic guitar with scalloped neck and moveable frets which is specially adapted for the subtle tones of Indian music. He specializes in blending the modal techniques of Ragas with the chords and harmonies of Western music. Nadaka works with a number of notable Indian musicians.
He is a follower of the yogi Sri Aurobindo.
