In August 2025, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, PAS Information Chief, sued a Letter of Demand (LOD) to, Nabil Halimi, who is the Vice Chief of Angkatan Muda Keadilan. Fadhli was asking for an apology and RM1 million.
The situation arose from a caricature that was said to have ridiculed Malaysia’s diplomatic efforts in the peace talks between Thailand and Cambodia.
Nabil confirmed that he had received the Letter of Demand and was currently going through it. He mentioned that he would consult with a lawyer before deciding on his next steps, while also emphasizing the significance of freedom of speech in a democratic society
Angkatan Muda KEADILAN (AMK) Selangor has released an official statement denouncing the actions of Fadhli Shaari, calling it an effort to stifle the voices of young people who speak out. Mohamad Shahrul Adnan, the Deputy Chief of AMK Selangor, stressed that expressing criticism is a fundamental right of citizens, not a crime. He also affirmed AMK Selangor's unwavering support for Nabil and urged Malaysians to stand against a culture of political intimidation.
KK Mart Issue and Dispute with Akmal Saleh
In March 2024, a controversy arose involving several KK Mart convenience store outlets following reports of socks bearing the word “Allah” being sold at one of its branches. The incident led to public debate, boycott calls, and reported attacks on some outlets, and received widespread media coverage in Malaysia.
Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh, Chief of UMNO Youth Malaysia, called for a boycott of the chain, stating that KK Mart’s actions were insensitive. His remarks prompted a range of responses from various political figures, withsome expressing concern that the situation could heighten religious and racial tensions in the country.
At the time, Nabil, then Information Chief of AMK Malaysia, criticised Akmal’s statements. He stated that religious matters should be handled carefully and investigated by the relevant authorities, rather than being politicised. He also described UMNO Youth’s approach as “throwing stones and hiding hands,” arguing that it could affect social harmony.
Criticism of Political Appointments
In May 2025, Nabil responded to criticism directed at Kamil Abdul Munim, the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary, following statements by the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4 Center) regarding alleged patronage in political appointments. Nabil stated that political involvement does not necessarily indicate a lack of qualification and emphasised the importance of merit and accountability in public appointments.
He also called for institutional reforms, including the introduction of a Political Financing Act and the reinstatement of local government elections, aimed at strengthening governance at the local level.
Addendum Decree and Political Stability
In January 2025, Najib Razak was granted leave by the Court of Appeal to challenge the validity of an alleged addendum decree, which was reported to relate to claims allowing him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.
Following the development, Nabil commented that the court decision reflected the transparency of the legal process and the functioning of Malaysia’s judicial system. He also stated that Barisan Nasional should avoid being influenced by political sentiments arising from Perikatan Nasional, and emphasised the importance of continued cooperation within the Unity Government (Pakatan Harapan–Barisan Nasional) in maintaining political and economic stability.
Collaboration with BERSIH for the Reform Agenda
In February 2024, during a BERSIH rally at Tugu Negara calling for government reforms, Nabil Halimi, then Information Chief of AMK Malaysia, expressed support for the rally. He stated that, in addition to public demonstrations, civil society groups such as BERSIH should also engage with the government to advance reform initiatives, and emphasised the importance of political stability for economic recovery and governance reform. He also expressed the view that civil society and the government should work together to address issues such as economic inequality and social justice, which he said could affect democratic governance.
Nabil also commented on several government initiatives, including the introduction of Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQT), the enactment of anti-stalking legislation, the abolition of the mandatory death penalty, and the establishment of Parliamentary Select Committees, describing them as steps towards institutional reform.
