Mus'ka

MUS'KA is a Philippine pop group formed in 2002. They consist of five members; Pierro Rodriguez III ,Cyline Suntay,Myko Suntay,Jocel Escobal and Michelle Rodriguez

They are signed to Rosas Records and have released their first album entitled "Today's Youth Tomorrow's Leader" last December 2002. The songs in the Album include May Kaibigan Ka. I cannot understand. What's Gonna Happen. Maligaya ba. Para lang sayo. Puwede sana puwede.sana.When I think of you. Their songs and Performances earned them a nomination at the Aliw Awards year 2003 in the Philippines

The vision and mission of the songs of Mus'ka is to see A Wonderful and peaceful world, where all human beings are aware of their environment,country and community. To entertain people and encourage them to do something good by using their God-given talents.

Mus'ka had their first concert entitled children's power last December 7,2003 at the Folk arts Theatre with pop star and Actress Jolina Magdangal and with the master showmanGerman Moreno The concert Showcased the songs of Mus'ka with three additional songs entitled; Magulang ko Mahal ko,Manood kayo saamin and A better Future. Now this pop group is in its 6th Children's power and is still performing for the entertainment of the viewers.

Band History

2002

The members of Mus'ka met during the audition of the movie,mga Munting Tinig at LVN studio compound last March 2002.Over 150 applicants auditioned for the movie but only 15 kids(9 boys and 6 girls) passed the Standard of Director Gil M. Portes after the shooting of the film, one of the parents,Ma. Rosario Suntay, thought of grouping some of the kids to form a pop group and so, Pierro Rodriguez,Cyline Suntay, Keno Agaro, Jocel Escobal, Myko Suntay and Rowell Reyes were the six talents that was hand-picked by Rosas Records along with two other members, Michelle Rodriguez (miss smile and Talent of the Enchanted Kingdom pageant) and Hazel Dacanay(singer and stage performer).The word Mus'ka was derived from the original word Musika. The letter "I" was omitted for the simple reason that the kids' mission is to sing together in harmony and to perform with a love for music.

September 2002 the 8 members of Mus'ka started recording and rehearsing for their performances. They were trained for almost 4 months by the careful eye of their mentor, choreographer and manager Ma. Rosario Suntay, along with Ton Llantada,Jerry Trajano(composers and music arrangers) and Desi Rivera(vocal coach) .Their very first performance took place at the Farmer's Plaza Mall last December 21, 2002 and have released their first album on the same day.

2003

From that time on,Mus'ka have been scheduled to different malls in the Philippines such as Ali Mall,Ever Gotesco,Star mall And in SM malls. They have also been accepted by German Moreno to perform once a month on his Master showman TV show in GMA.

from January - March 2003,The Mus'ka were busy appearing on T.V. Guestings, mall tour and out of town performances they also recorded additional songs(magulang ko mahal ko and A better Future) to include in their first album. Early march of 2003 Hazel Dacanay,the eldest in the group, decided to leave the group due to some family affair.She was replaced by stage child actress, Zaira Mate.

June 12,2003 the Mus'ka was invited to perform in the hit morning show of ABS-CBN, Magandang Umaga Bayan, where they sang an original composition For the Independence day segment. Shortly after their T.V appearance, the Mus'ka reached the cover of famous Philippine Magazines; Liwayway magazine on June 16, 2003 , Movie Star Magazine and Flash Movie Magazines. in 2003 Warner Brothers bought the distribution rights of the mga Munting Tinig movie, starring Alessandra De Rossi, and was once again shown to the public. The film won many awards in the Philippines and in abroad and it was the time where one of the Mus'ka members, Pierro Rodriguez, got nominated as the best new actor' in the PMPC star awards for his role in the film.

Mus'ka was nominated as the best new group in the award giving body, Aliw Awards.October 2003, the group performed at the Cainta,Rizal gymnasium for a mini-concert with the students of the Sacred heart Catholic School of cainta .It was in late September when Rosas Records announced that Mus'ka will be having their first major concert at the Folk Arts Theater on December 7,2003 together with,actress and pop star ,Jolina Magdangal and hosted by German Moreno . Several schools participated in the said event including major orphanage in the Philippines. The concert launched all the songs of Mus'ka with an additional song "Manood kayo saamin" that served as their opening number for the concert and the song "Magulang ko Mahal ko" was dedicated to all the parents in the event. The huge concert was directed by Robert Tongko.

2004

Summer of 2004 the Mus'ka was invited by the officials of Marinduque to have a concert in the said place. The Mus'ka members with their parents and manager stayed in the Island for more than two weeks, attending radio programs,personal appearances, etcetera.

December 16,2004- was the date for The second Children's power to be held at the Cuneta Astrodome. This time, the concert became a gathering of different schools to show off their talents in singing and dancing. The Mus'ka performed their own version of My fuuny Valentine,Graduation day,Celebrate,Holiday and that's the way I like it, accompanied by "The Sisters" Jam and Toni Rodriguez. Song compositions of Cyline Suntay (A better future) and Pierro Rodriguez( Sana Araw-araw ay pasko) was also launched in the concert. Michelle Rodriguez was voted the most popular Mus'ka member in the said event.

2005

February 2005-Keno Agaro was relieved from the group due to some problem with Rosas Records, management decided not to replace him and to continue the group with only 7 members. Summer of 2005 when Rosas Records announced that the group Mus'ka will be having a movie With Camille Prats and Marco Alcaraz. the movie,Mga batang Bangketa, started filming on August 2005 with the theme song Magulang ko Mahal ko by Mus'ka, the movie also served as the 3rd Children's Power. The movie mga Batang Bangketa premiered on February 2006.

2006

February 2006 the movie was shown to over 30 cinemas in the Philippines. April 2006, The Mus'ka was invited to perform in Pagsanjan and it was also the day when Rosas records decided to let go of mus'ka member,Zaira Mate ,due to some priority problems.

1st week of October when Rosas Records announced that the six members of Mus'ka will have their own Entertainment talk show on RJTV channel. The Talk show which was named after their song kaibigan" (composed by Ton llantada) was hosted by Mus'ka members; Pierro Rodriguez , Cyline Suntay,Jocel Escobal, Myko Suntay, Rowell Reyes and Michelle Rodriguez and was co-hosted by Cherry Chastain.The T.V. show featured stories AbOUT different places and events here in the Philippines, it also tackled about different customs and traditions of different cultures. Board of directors from FAMAS and Quezon City Mayor Sonny Belmonte were some of the guests that appeared in the Kaibigan show of Mus'ka. Several schools were also given the chance to perform on the Show

  • December 2006- the 4th children's power was held at the Amoranto sports complex.

2007

The Kaibigan T.V. show made it up to second season. While Jocel Escobal requested to leave the group for a while to rest. The five Mus'ka members continued hosting the T.V program and continued performing in mall shows. The third season(April 2007) the T.V show opened a new segment, it was a singing contests called "Pinoy Yata Ako". season 4 (August 2007)of The Kaibigan program was followed by the return of Jocel Escobal from the group Mus'ka.After four seasons in RJTV ,the T.V. show finally said it's goodbyes to the viewers last October 27,2007.

  • the 5th Children's Power(December 15,2007)was held at the Amoranto Sports Theater with over 15 school participants.

2008

The Mus'ka Group continued with their usual Performances in marikina Riverbanks,Ever Gotesco Ortigas and Common Wealth, Sta Lucia Malls and Robinsons malls ,with a Radio Program at DWBL once a week. 2nd batch for the Pinoy yata ako singing contest was also opened . Now The Mus'ka is planning to release their second album with a new single entitled "Pangarap ay pag-asa" .

2009

The Mus'ka had their first performance of the year 2009 at the Broadway Centrum stars Plaza. Rowell Reyes was removed from the group by the rosas management due to failure to comply with the prescribed attendance. Now the five members of the Mus'ka is preparing for the 6th children's power which will be held at the Amoranto sports thatre ,also Rosas Management announced that they will be conducting an open audition for a new male member of Mus'ka who can sing and dance, Auditions are still open, Mus'ka is still striving hard to entertain their viewers, to spread the love for entertainment and music to the community and to help the youth enhance their God-given talents by showing them that everyone can sing
