Museo d'Arte Erotica

The Museo d'Arte Erotica is a museum in Venice, Italy

“Amphibious city... female [...] of Europe” as Guillaume Appollinaire once defined Venice when talking about one of its illustrious [...] poets, Zorzi Baffo. In the city of Giacomo Casanova, of the five hundred honorable courtesanes, including Veronica Franco, there is now the Museum of [...] Art. The museum is situated a few metres from St Mark’s Place, formerly a centre of casinos, love and libertinism and still a meeting place for lovers.

This new Venetian museum, connected to the already well-established Musée de l'Érotisme, in Paris, covers over 700 m2 disposed over four exhibition floors. A fascinating voyage in which the tourist will discover libertine Venezia through sensual works by historical and contemporary artists, works having the theme of sensuality and transgression.

The various sections present in the exhibition concentrate on different aspects of sexuality through the centuries (in visual art, and in media and in the exhibition of precious bibliographic editions). The heart of the Museum is the particular section Venezia di Piacere, which casts light on such personalities as Aretino, Franco, Cappello, Baffo, or Casanova, who accompanied the time of the Serenissima. All the rooms are dedicated to sensual objects and curiosities coming from all over the world, a testimony to the timelessness of the [...] passions.

The Museo D'Arte Erotica provides an unmissable opportunity for all those wanting to see another side of Venice, about which little has been said until now.
