Mun G

Mungi Emmanuel Matovu (born 25 December 1985), best known as Mun G or Mun Genius is a Ugandan rapper and songwriter known for his contributions to Lugaflow and hip-hop music in Uganda. He rose to prominence in the early 2010s and was associated with the Baboon Forest Entertainment collective founded by GNL Zamba before establishing his own MusicAL brand called Kunta Kinte.

Early life and education

Mun G was born on 25 December 1985 in Gayaza town, Masaka District. He completed his secondary education form Masaka Secondary School before joining Makerere University from where he attained his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.

Musical career

Mun G began his professional music career around 2010, gaining prominence with his debut single "Ebintu," which became a hit and introduced him to Uganda's hip-hop audience. He later joined Baboon Forest Entertainment, a hip-hop collective led by GNL Zamba, where he gained wider recognition. His breakthrough came through collaborations such as "Kakunganye," featuring the late Mowzey Radio and Weasel.

After leaving Baboon Forest following the end of his contract, Mun G founded his own label, Kunta Kinte, marking a transition to an independent career. Over the years, he has released numerous songs and built a catalogue of more than 30 hit tracks.
