Mrs. Vernon-Williams

Mrs. Vernon-Williams is a fictional character, portrayed by Polly Bergen, in the John Waters film Cry-Baby''.

She is a widowed grandmother who is overly protective of her granddaughter Allison. She prefers listening to Your Hit Parade as opposed to the rock and roll music of the 1950s. When talking to Wade Walker at the beginning of the film, she refers to his English as improper. Her first name is unknown and it is never used in the film. Since Vernon is her maiden name and not the first name of her late husband, it is assumed that Allison's deceased grandfather's first name is not Vernon.

She expects her granddaughter to be a perfect lady and not to get her dress dirty. Her relationship with the local judge prevents her granddaughter from going to a training school for girls after being involved in a Squares-Drapes fight at Turkey Point, a hangout for rowdy teenagers and juvenile delinquents alike.
