Mr & Mrs Smith is a travel publisher and hotel booking service specialising in boutique, individual and small luxury hotels and is based in London, United Kingdom. Founded in 2003, the company has published five books under its Spy Publishing imprint (four volumes of anonymous hotel reviews, featuring destinations in the UK, Ireland and Europe and Smith 52, a compendium of events around the world. In addition, Mr & Mrs Smith has released four Something for the Weekend compilation albums of chill-out travel music.
In 2006, Outline television production company created a television series, The Smith’s Hotels for Two, which was presented by Juliet Kinsman and Andrew Grahame and showed for six episodes on Discovery Travel & Living.
Mr & Mrs Smith currently maintains a Webby Award-winning online directory of more than 350 boutique hotels in the UK, Europe, the United States, South East Asia, Africa, Australia, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean, as well as a number of vacation rental properties in Europe and Alpine ski chalets.
Each boutique hotel represented is subjected to a minimum of two visits, by both company staff and anonymous reviewers.
A diverse group of celebrities and notable individuals have contributed hotel reviews to Mr & Mrs Smith’s books and website, including Stella McCartney, Raymond Blanc, Howard Marks, Lucy Yeomans, Roland Mouret and Dita Von Teese.
It was announced in 2007, that Mr & Mrs Smith founders James Lohan and Tamara Heber-Percy are planning to open their own boutique hotel in 2009.
