MPwH.net - Meet People with H (Herpes/HPV) is the largest, oldest and most trusted international dating, social, and support community for people who have Herpes simplex (HSV1 - oral herpes, HSV2 - genital herpes) and Human papillomavirus (HPV). MPwH.net is one of several social, online dating, and support/informational websites provided by the Antopia Herpes Network (www.antopia.com). MPwH.net has a membership of over 70,000 people worldwide. MPwH.net is the largest and most trusted social networking community and dating site dedicated solely to people living with Herpes and HPV. Many members join MPwH.net (it's FREE to become a community member!) and meet other people, not necessarily for romance, and many times simply for friendship, information and support. Unlike regular dating sites, many MPwH members have been members of MPwH for 5 to 10 years, which is when the site was created. MPwH is like the "cheers bar" where "everybody knows your name - but it's just on the internet :)
History
MPwH (at mpwh.net) was started by AJ Matthews on his laptop computer over the course of a weekend in October 1997. MPwH was Profiled in the U.K. newspaper the Guardian, 1 in December 2005. AJ Matthews, a former owner of Antopia, said his idea for the website came AbOUT because he has herpes and wanted to meet and date other people with herpes. When he couldn't find a website for people with herpes, he created a dating website by modifying an online guest book where people could post personal ads. MPwH was recently mentioned on the Tyra Banks Show in an episode on STD's which aired on April 21, 2006 titled, 'The ABC's of STD's.
AJ Matthews has retired from the H community and is no longer an owner of Antopia.com, which is now owned and overseen by AJ's former wife, Jodi.
