The company manufactures and sells more than 55,000 products that include products for cell and molecular biology, radiochemistry, biochemistry and large scale industrial manufacturing.It produces life science, fine chemical, and clinical diagnostic products. The organization maintains a network of global distributors with ISO-certified diagnostics facilities in Solon, Ohio, Burlingame, California and Singapore, as well a distribution center in Strasbourg, France.

History

The roots of the company go back to when Milan Panić founded the ICN Pharmaceuticals in 1959 from the basement of his home in Pasadena, California. Mr. Panic expanded the business from California into Russia and China, placing ICN in a position to take advantage of the emerging world economy. In 2002, Mr. Panic stepped down as chairman and chief executive officer of ICN Pharmaceuticals and purchased MP Biomedicals.

ICN's best selling product was the antiviral [...] called Ribavirin. Though MP Biomedicals no longer produces pharmaceuticals it still manufactures and sells many products utilized in both the [...] discovery process and basic research fields like the FastPrep-24 tissue homogenizer used for protein, DNA and RNA isolation. The FastPrep has even been used to successfully extract biological material from dinosaur bones and the results of this work were discussed on the Discovery Channel.
