Movin' On (concert)

Movin' On is a no-charge, substance-free concert held every spring by and for students at The Pennsylvania State University.

History

Movin' On started in 1974 as "Gentle Thursday," and has since grown to feature many of today's top national acts. Every year, students of the Movin' On Core Committee plan for the entire event, including booking national artists, publicizing for the event, hosting a Battle of the Bands, and preparing for the Saturday show.

In addition to headining and supporting acts, several student bands are selected to play throughout the day, by first competeing in a Battle of the Bands. Each of these bands must have at least one current Penn State student, with no limit on additional members. A variety of acts appear at the battle, and usually at least one or two of each genre is selected to perform.

Past acts have included Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Talib Kweli, Jewel, Reel Big Fish, Ben Folds Five, American Hi-Fi, Our Lady Peace, Run DMC, Pete Yorn, Jimmy Eat World, Wilco, Bowling for Soup, Raekwon, and many others.
