Moonshine (band)
Moonshine is a death/black metal band from Seoul, South Korea.
History
In 1993, Amon (Vo, G) and Giga (bs) formed Korea's first death metal band 'Deathrasher'. They changed their drummer several times before using a drum machine for three grindcore minded demo tapes all recorded at Giga's house. Despite technical imperfection and lo-fi sound, they were already showing some originality in their songwriting.
In 1996, the band changed its name to 'Moonshine'. At this moment, with some internal changes in band members, Bassist Giga switched his position from bass to drums, and they found other musicians for the bass and guitar parts. Moonshine was reborn as a melodic black metal band. They continued to record demo tapes, but their first official full-length album came in 2001, first because Giga and Amon had full-time jobs, and secondly because of the quasi-absence of extreme metal scene in their country. It is said that their first album could have not been made if there was not a long strike in the company where Amon works.
As Moonshine, they have released two full-length albums.
