Moo (Monster Rancher)

Master Moo(known as Muu in Japan), more commonly known asMoo', is a fictional character in the Monster Rancher anime. He is the major antagonist in the entire show, and an extremely evil villain. He bears no redeeming qualities, and is shown as a personification of evil; his demonic form, his method of seducing monsters, and his ability to derive strength from hatred, all give him an undeniable similarity to the devil. Moo is a cruel and vicious sadist who commits his evil acts purely because of the enjoyment it gives to his dark soul.

History

Moo was created centuries ago, as an ultimate weapon in the Monster War. He was made to be all but invincible; a gigantic colossus that would crush any that opposed him. As he grew more powerful however, Moo became uncontrollable; he opposed the human race, and made a monster army by offering them a better life than mere tools. The irony is that Moo would become an even more iron-clad slave-driver; he truly cares nothing for his minions. His goal, rather, was nothing less than the ultimate destruction of all life.

The same scientists created an equally powerful monster to stop Moo-the Phoenix. As the two seemingly god-like beings battled, the scientists designed a weapon to attack Moo's mind. They used it on both of them; the net result was that both monsters' souls were separated from their bodies. Both bodies somehow ended up in the frozen mountains, the immense cold preserving their lifeless forms.

While the Phoenix's soul was scattered into five monsters, Moo's still remained alive. Centuries later, Holly's father, who was banished from the village and who attempted to find the Phoenix, stumbled into a cave. Inside was Moo's soul, somehow preserved, and it entered Holly's father, reviving the evil demon. It is not known for certain how much influence Holly's father had upon The New lifeform, but Moo was clearly dominant.

Instantly, he began assembling an army, his goal being to recover his old body and he eventually gathered enough power to be feared all over the world.

When Genki, Holly, and their monster friends began their journey, Moo initially regarded them as nothing more than pests, and assumed his Big Bad Four could handle them. When he discovered Holly had the Magic Stone, however, he himself kidnapped her. In the process, he utterly defeated the others, though he let them live. While Holly was in captivity, he revealed his identity to her, at first trying to persuade her to help him, and then, forcing her. Although she was rescued, Moo had used the stone's power to discover his body.

For the majority of the rest of the show, Moo would focus purely on reviving his frozen body, leaving first, the remainder of his Four, and then, General Durahan, to handle Genki's group. Well aware that his general was attempting to oust him, he seduced his love, Lilim, into helping him, and to betray Durahan. Eventually, he would merge into his body, and become unstoppable, except for a flaw in his body that only saved the heroes once-a weakness to sunlight. He would soon overcome this weakness, and almost destroyed them, drawing strength from their hatred towards him.

However, as he was AbOUT to finish them, he went mad with power. Moo's more primal instinct completely eradicated what remained of Holly's father. Moo was now what he was centuries ago: a mindless beast, who would not stop until all life was gone.

With the discovery of the Phoenix, and how its soul was reborn, Mocchi, Suezo, Golem, Tiger, and Hare reunited it, in essence, giving up their lives to do so. As the two clashed once again, Moo realized that the two were each others opposites; good and evil, destined to fight for all time, until the other was dead. Their battle was titanic, its power felt all over the world, but in the end, Moo was finally destroyed, along with the Phoenix.
