Monthly Al-Kawsar () is a widely circulated, research-oriented Islamic monthly magazine published in the Bengali language from Dhaka, Bangladesh. First published in February 2005, it serves as the official publication of Markazud Dawah Al-Islamia, a prominent higher Islamic education and research institution in Bangladesh. The magazine is highly regarded among Bengali-speaking Muslims for its in-depth articles, contemporary Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), and scholarly answers to modern socio-religious queries.

History and Background

The magazine was launched in February 2005 from Mirpur, Dhaka, with The Primary objective of promoting authentic Islamic education, culture, and jurisprudence (Fiqh) among the Bengali-speaking masses. It publishes eleven issues annually, with a special combined issue released for the Islamic months of Sha'ban and Ramadan.

Since its inception, Abul Hasan Muhammad Abdullah has been serving as the chief editor. The late Islamic scholar Abdul Hai Paharhpuri served as its founding advisor, while the renowned Deobandi scholar and Hadith researcher Muhammad Abdul Malek oversees its publication as the general supervisor.

To keep pace with the growing demand for digital accessibility, Al-Kawsar launched its official web version in December 2009. An English EDition is currently under development to disseminate its scholarly content to an international audience. The magazine frequently features columns, articles, and fatwas from internationally recognized Islamic scholars, including the late Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi, Muhammad Rafi Usmani, Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Abu Taher Mesbah, and Muhammad Abdul Malek.

Impact and Acceptance

Monthly Al-Kawsar has played a pioneering role in integrating traditional Islamic scholarship with modern Bengali literature, particularly within the Qawmi Madrasa educational sphere in Bangladesh. A PhD thesis conducted at the Department Of Islamic Studies, University of Dhaka, highlighted the magazine's significant research contributions to the practice and expansion of Fiqh in the Bengali language.

Noted researcher and Author A F M Khalid Hossain praised the publication in the national daily Nayadiganta for its positive influence in encouraging Qawmi Madrasa students and scholars to practice standard Bengali. Furthermore, various national newspapers have cited Al-Kawsar as a highly successful model of high-Quality Bengali linguistic practice among orthodox Islamic scholars.
