Monegal is a Spanish perfume brand founded in 2009 by perfumer Ramon Monegal Masó.

History

The Monegal family's perfumery tradition dates back to 1916, when Esteve Monegal i Prat founded Myrurgia in Barcelona. The company stood out both for its products and for the design of its packaging, collaborating with artists such as Eduard Jener. Myrurgia gained international recognition for its products, such as Maderas de Oriente. In 2000, the company was acquired by Puig.

Ramon Monegal Masó, great-grandson of Myrurgia's founder, began his training in perfumery in 1972 in the family business. He then expanded his knowledge in Geneva with Artur Jordi Pey (Firmenich), in Grasse with Marcel Carles (Roure Bertrand and Argeville) and in Paris with Pierre Bourdon (Takasago and Fragrance Resources).

After working in the industry for more than 30 years, he decided to found his own brand, Ramon Monegal, in 2009, which aimed to combine traditional craftsmanship with innovation in the creation of exclusive perfumes for artists and personalities such as Julio Iglesias.
