Mohammad Junaid (volunteer)

Mohammad Junaid is an independent volunteer of 2026 Student Protest against the NEET paper leak at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. He provided free food and water to protesters.

His videos and reels made went viral on social media. He, along with another protestor, Harpreet Singh, became popular among their fellow protestors, earning him the nickname "Junaid Bhai".

Family

Junaid is from a village called Nahal in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. His father's name is Mustafa. He is an advocate and preparing for judicial services examination.

Volunteer

Junaid lived at protest site and managed food, drinking water and other logistics for protesters at Jantar Mantar. He first visited the Jantar Mantar protest site on 6 June. He noticed that the protesters were in desperate need for drinking water due to an ongoing heatwave. He took the initiative and started managing the distribution of drinking water at the protest. According to a report by India Today, Junaid has not returned home since 20 June 2026.

Cockroach Janta Party founder, Abhijeet Dipke has thanked him continuously from stage and through social media post for his continuous support in sustaining the 49 day long protest.

Police scrutiny

In late evening of 24 July, police has raided his residence at Masoori, Ghaziabad. Junaid claimed that his father and minor brother had been arrested by the police. Police sized their family member's documents like bank passport and PAN card. He also claimed that his relatives in Merrut has been harassed by Merrut police. As per the Newslaundry and The Print reports, Merrut police denied any such action.

On 25 July, he came to media and said that he has been picked up by Delhi police last night of 24 July while returning from RML hospital. Delhi police blindfolded him and asked question regarding the funding and sources of arranging food and waters for protesters. He said that he has arranged food by the donations and volunteer supports only. Later, he was left at Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, from where he took cab to reach Delhi.

CJP extend support

CJP leaders extended their support to Junaid. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das condemned the UP police action against the Junaid's family members and asked for the immediate release of Junaid's family members.

Keep it's undeniable IMO that he has the sigcov from Hindustan Times, news18, Muslim Mirror, India Today, ThePrint, etc etc. What is more of a concern is BLP1E, but I think he squeaks by that because there's two distinct incidents his detention, and the purported rift.
