Modoka Studios
Modoka Studios (stylized as MODOKA, formerly Lumodokate Studios) is a Dutch independent video game developer located in Zwolle, Netherlands, and a division of Modoka Media BV. Apart from software development, the company also specializes in content creation and language localisation for video games and software.
Modoka Studios was founded in 2012 as Lumodokate Studios, and is best known for its games Saddies: Attack!!, and Project Sonymon. The studio develops and publishes mainly for Android and Kindle Fire, but has also released games on Microsoft Windows and OS X.
Foundation
Modoka Studios was founded as Lumodokate Studios on 19 December 2012 by a small group of Dutch indie game and Homebrew game developers, who created small Homebrew games for the Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii and mostly portable devices like the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable. When porting games to PC, the decision was made to establish a game development studio, in an effort to recreate their previous Homebrew games, as mobile games, and re-release classic MS-DOS games for mobile. Since 2014 the studio decided to put their focus more on digital distribution. The studios was founded as a hobby.
History
In 2014, Modoka Studios gained permission to publish the game Soul Survivor, originally developed by 1337 Gallery. Three months after the agreement, a port to the Kindle Fire appeared in the Amazon App Store. A few weeks later, the company changed their name from Lumodokate to Modoka Studios due to a preference for a shorter name. The games that were already published under the Lumodokate banner, were re-released under the MODOKA or Modoka Studios name. PC and Mac versions of Soul Survivor were released on Game Jolt and Desura.
Project Sonymon, was announced on 2 September 2014. The game project uses the same name and game characters as the PSP Homebrew game, which it is based on. The game is set to release on Android, iOS and Microsoft Windows. No release date has been announced. Saddies: Attack!! was set to be released on Android through the Google Play store fall 2015, but was delayed. Saddies: Attack!! is a re-release of Soul Survivor with enhancements. It has been announced, that Modoka Studios will focus primarily on game development and publishing. Webtastic is a social media application, released on the Modoka Studios division, Webtastic App Development.
In 2015, Modoka Studios announced their localisation services and publishing services for smaller indie studios. Indie studios that are planning to translate free games, can make use of the service. With their publishing service, they are trying to expand their partnerships. The studio has notably mentioned the Chinese mobile game market on their website, and has announced to localize a few exclusive projects, which won't be released on the Google Play store.

Other projects
As well as games development, Modoka Studios still develops application software. Webtastic is one of those application, which is currently developed under their division Webtastic App Development. The application started out as a browser page and Google Chrome extension back in 2012, before the official founding of the studio. It has been the only official project released by Modoka Studios that isn't a video game. Webtastic is an application that shows social media applications' web-version, to reduce space on storage.
Webtastic has been published for Kindle Fire under the Modoka Studios name, and the Google Play version has been announced to be release under Webtastic App Development.
