Mitchell B. Sheinkop
Mitchell B. Sheinkop (born 1941), is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and director of joint replacement at the Neurologic and Orthopedic Hospital of Chicago (NOHC). He also holds the title of “professor” in the Department of Orthopedics and is a professor emeritus at Rush University Medical Center.
Sheinkop attended the Finch University of Health Sciences/the Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, IL. His residency took place at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He furthered his orthopedic training through fellowships in pediatric orthopedics and trauma at Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel, and hand surgery at Passavant Memorial Hospital, Chicago.
Sheinkop is known for the treatment of complex hip and knee disorders and employment of computer-assisted navigation and minimally invasive technologies, including uni-compartmental knee replacement. He also is one of only a few orthopedic surgeons who are trained and experienced in implanting the full range of minimally resective systems of hip resurfacing technologies.
In addition to performing orthopedic surgery, he lectures, educates, and researches many orthopedic-related topics, among them unicompartmental minimally invasive solutions, hip resurfacing systems, and navigated arthroplasty.
Famous patients of his include former Chicago Bears QB Jim Miller, head coach Mike Ditka, and White Sox outfielder Albert Belle. In 2007, he appeared with contested Tour De France winner Floyd Landis to promote hip resurfacing.
