Miss Latin America 1989
Miss América Latina 1989 was the sixth international edition of the Miss América Latina contest, and the eighth overall. The final event was held on March 3, 1989 in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. At the conclusion of the pageant, Suzanne Hannaux of El Salvador was crowned by outgoing titleholder, Lorenia Burruel of Mexico. .

Trivia
- Colombia, despite having competed in 1987 and having placed for all five pageants from 1983-1987, failed to send a delegate this year.
- El Salvador placed for the first time, becoming the first country to win on its first placement excluding the first two pageants.
- Of the countries that placed, Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Paraguay and Peru also placed in 1987.
- Countries that had not placed for a while were Puerto Rico, Spain (1985) and Costa Rica (1986).
