Millennium Harbourview Hotel Xiamen is a hotel in the original downtown area of Xiamen. Opened in 1992, it is the first international luxury hotel built in Xiamen. The Millennium Harbourview is operated under the management of the Millennium & Copthorne Hotels chain. The Millennium Harbourview spans 10,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, ranging from ballrooms, function rooms, to breakout rooms. It offers 352 rooms & suites and provides a comprehensive list of corporate and leisure amenities for travelers.

History

Originally, the hotel was set to be erected right in Xiamen's downtown area to become the grand facilitator of international business. In 1992, Xiamen had no internationally managed hotels. The fact is that at this time even local business hotels were hard to come by. The emergence of this hotel, offering a posh marble designed hotel with international flair and convenient business amenities was exactly what the city needed. One thing the hotel owner was certain then was that Xiamen has been destined to become a global business haven.

The first few years, businesses all held their events and flooded to the hotel like bees to a hive. This 22 story hotel, towered above the surrounding 4 and 5 story neighbors, a true city landmark. Western holidays were brought to life in the hotel's Harbour Cafe, where you could find turkey and pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving and traditional treats for Christmas, Easter, Valentines Day, and so on.

Architecture

The grand design of this hotel was originally conceived by the Singaporean architect, whose aim was to bring to life the symbolic "Mer-lion" of Singapore. The magnificent entrance to the hotel has been designed in the shape of a roaring lion's head. To capture the most of the sun's natural lighting, the 352 luxuriously appointed guests rooms were constructed with a full length floor-ceiling windows. Further the hotel's strategic design cause the majority of all its rooms to have a harbor view.

The Hollywood Bar on the 1st floor captures the memories of L.A. movie legends In the Pictures and relics that make the room's decor. Serving only the finest Scottish malt whiskey and hand-rolled cigars has created the posh environment that business executives desire.

The Golf Bar also on the 1st floor was designed to provide golfing executives with a relaxing environment to discuss the game. The walls are lined with golf-themed murals and along one side is an all natural rock formation, existing before the creation of the hotel, with 3 gentle waterfalls flowing into crystal pools below.

Restaurants

The hotel hosts 4 restaurants with a variety of gourmet cuisines.

The Harbour Cafe provides an international buffet. The dishes prepared represent countless countries around the world and unique food themes are given to each day of the week for guests to enjoy different specialties.

The Portofino Italian restaurant is the hotel's romantically inclined venue. The authentic Italian cuisine has been carefully carried from Militello, Italy, and served by the celebrity chef Pippo.

The Loong Yuen Chinese restaurant offers Cantonese cuisine. This restaurant is the most famous in town for the culinary displays performed by the "magician" Chef Dai Fan Kai. Hand-made noodles is the specialty of this restaurant and the life noodle performances leave many in amazement.
