The accuser reported Yenni offered him a government job so they can be together without question.
After refusing to acknowledge the story, Yenni admitted to the accusations in a video released to the public . The video went viral and led to a failed voter led recall petition, with most elected Parish officials to call for Yenni's immediate resignation.
The scandal also led Yenni to be banned from all Jefferson Parish School Board properties and events.
On August 8, 2019, Yenni announced that he would not seek reelection for a second term as Jefferson Parish President. He stated his decision was based on protecting his family and friends from "that kind of campaign".
