Mike Wankum

Mike Wankum is the weekend morning meteorologist at WCVB-TV in Boston, Massachusetts. He has been with the station since December of 2006. Previously, he was chief meteorologist at WLVI-TV Channel 56 from 1993 to December 2006, where the station was sold. He had won eight Emmys at Channel 56.

Wankum has provided weather reports in the Boston Herald, and on several radio stations, including WZLX (100.7), WBUR (90.9), and Kiss 108. His printed forecasts are currently found in the Boston METRO, a free daily abbrieviated newspaper published by the Boston Globe. Before coming to Boston, he has worked as a chief meteorologist at WTVR-TV in Richmond, Virginia, and at KTIV-TV in his native Iowa.

Wankum has served has chairman of the Chernobyl Children Project USA, and has assisted at local shelters and nursing homes. He is a lecturer at area schools.

A graduate of Briar Cliff University, Wankum lives on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
