Michael B. Younan

Michael Benjamin Younan, born January 3, 1976, is an American politician and in 2008 was a candidate in Illinois' 9th Congressional District. He is also a businessman and medical administrator.

Education

Younan attended Newton Bateman Elementary School and then graduated Theodore Roosevelt High School 1994. He has a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Northeastern Illinois University and is currently postponing completion of a MBA while campaigning for office.

Military Service

Michael Benjamin Younan is a United States Air Force veteran of eight years. During his military career, Younan was awarded an Oak Leaf Cluster,two Achievement Medals, a Good Conduct Medal, and was promoted below the zone to the rank of Senior Airman. Amn Younan had assignments at the following bases: Basic Training - Lackland AFB San Antonio, TX, Optometry Apprentice Training - Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX, Kadena Air Base (Aerospace Medicine Squadron) Okinawa, Japan, Kunsan Air Base, South Korea, Beale AFB (9th Reconnaissance Wing) Yuba City, CA. In 1997, Michael was named the Pacific Air Forces Airman of the Year and was the runner up for the Air Force Airman of the Year.

Campaign for Congress

Michael B. Younan filed for candidacy in Illinois' 9th District on November 1, 2007. Running against Democratic Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Michael is committed to serving as a new voice in the ninth district. In the Veteran community, Michael has been ACTIVE within the American Legion and many other Veterans organizations, and has promised to work as an activist for the Veterans if elected. On November 4, 2008 Younan lost his election bid gaining only 22% of the vote to Schakowsky's 75%.

Robo-Calls

Callers in the 9th District have received calls (to both landlines and cell-phones) stating that Schakowsky voted for the bailout and her husband is a convicted felon. Younan had previously stated he would not make such calls. The robo-calls were paid for by Citizens for Michael Younan.

Family

Michael's parents Benjamin (deceased 1994) and Sue have five children. Josephine, Madeline, Noreen, and John. Michael is now married to his wife Sonya, and they have three daughters; Jasmyne Nicole, Alexys Natalia, and Isabella Marie.

Business

Michael facilitated the startup of Retinalysis.com. Retinalysis.com was developed to streamline patient care services to diabetics with eye diseases. Many physicians enjoy such a service because of the high percentage of noncompliant diabetic patients. This process involves the installation of non-mydriatic cameras in other medical specialties. The camera is then networked to the website www.retinalysis.com where a contracted retinal specialist interprets and grades retinal photographs.

In 2005, Michael started a home health care agency, United Home Healthcare. The company is in the beginning stages of development.

In 2005, Michael created American Clinical Supplies, Inc. American Clinical Supplies, Inc (ACS Pharmaceuticals) markets and distributes pharmaceutical products both commercially available and compounded.

In 2007, Michael founded Vision America Eye Care Center, which provides examinations and treatments for glaucoma, dry eyes, diabetics, macular degeneration, hypertensive retinopathy, and other eye diseases, in addition to offering glasses and other eye care services. The company has plans to open many locations throughout Chicago and the Suburbs in the near future.
