Michael A. Kennedy

Michael A. Kennedy is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and a descendant of Joseph Smith, Jr. who has done much to unify the descendants of Joseph Smith.

Kennedy grew up in Nevada, not as a member of the LDS Church. In high school, he started to learn of Joseph Smith and met with LDS Church missionaries. He was baptised a member of the LDS Church in 1973. He then went to Southern Utah University, and was ordained an elder in the church. He was the first descendant of Joseph Smith ordained to the Melchizedek priesthood of the LDS Church. Shortly after his ordination, he was married to Darcy in the church's Provo Utah Temple.

Kennedy works as an IT director for ProPay. He also serves as president of the Joseph and Emma Smith Family Association and is one of the trustees of Nauvoo University, which plans to open in 2009.
