Meunier & Cie

Meunier & Cie (est.1894) is a Champagne house based in Aÿ, France, which has been going through a rebranding since 2009. Under the name Meunier & Cie, or simply Meunier, the brand produces several labels of Champagne, including non-vintage Meunier Brut and the vintage Meunier Cuvée du Fondateur.

History

Meunier & Cie was founded in 1894 by three friends who traveled to Paris to see what is now referred to as the Grand Prix. The friends were offered some Champagne for a toast, and loved it so much that they then decided to travel to the Champagne region in search of a vineyard and a cellar where they could begin producing their own Champagne. They then founded Meunier & Cie Champagne, named after the leader of the group Christian Meunier.

Products

The Champagne Meunier & Cie is produced with Grand Cru grapes, and, is aged for three years in chalk cellars, despite the minimum aging period of 15 months for non-vintage Champagnes The brand currently produces Meunier Brut, Meunier Rosé and Meunier Cuvee du Fondateur, and it is launching a Blanc de blancs, a Millesime and a Grand Reserve in June 2012.
