On 13 July 2009, Elche Cf announced the signing of Marshall on their club website. AFC and Elche Cf entered negotiations over the transfer fee, but agreement could not be reached, leading to the sum being decided at a tribunal. On 23 July the tribunal declared that Elche Cf would pay £700,000 for Marshall, with add-on payments of up to £1.25m dependent on appearances.

He made his league debut on 1 October 2009 at the age of 18 years, playing 20 minutes as a substitute in a 2–0 defeat to Real Murcia at estadio martinez valero, making him Elche's youngest ever Foreign player.
