Mateo Moreno

'''Mateo Moreno''' (born May 23, 1978 in Independence, Missouri) is an American Actor and Filmmaker based out of New York City. He grew up in the midwest town of Independence, once home of Harry S. Truman and Ginger Rogers and attended ''Fort Osage High School'' and very briefly attended ''Longview College'' and ''The University of Missouri Kansas City.''

== ACTING & FILMMAKING CAREER ==
In 1997, Moreno starred in his first film role, '''''The Witness: The Pequot War of 1636-1638''''', a docudrama chronicling the story of the Pequot War of 1636. Although it was never nationally released, it played to sold out crowds at the ''Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center.'' After that, Moreno starred in several local Kansas City productions (plays, musicals, and independent film) including '''''Into the Woods''''', the short film, '''''A Painters Hands''''', & the world premiere of the dysfunctional family drama, '''''Swounds''''' creating the role of Pilot, a male prostitute who helped a troubled young man find love. Soon after, Moreno auditioned and was accepted into ''The American Musical and Dramatic Academy,'' a musical theatre/dance conservatory in New York City. After graduating from ''AMDA,'' he then was cast as the lead character Figaro in the National Tour of '''''The Barber of Seville'''''. After returning to NYC, he starred in several Off-Off Broadway and Off-Broadway productions including, '''''Twelfth Night''''', '''''World Gone Wrong''''',
'''''All in the Timing''''', and starred in several independent and studio films. In 2004, Moreno formed his first production company, [http://www.myspace.com/filmsbycandlelight ''Films by Candlelight'']and began shooting his directorial debut, the romantic comedy, '''''Days'''''. With a screenplay by Moreno, '''''Days''''' starred an ensemble cast that included: Nikki Berger, Dan Buckland, Julie Craig, David DiLoreto, Nicole Dolci, Eva Gil, Amy Henderson, Mateo Moreno, and Dina Rose Rivera and told the story of several young New Yorkers as they struggle to survive in modern day Manhattan. The soundtrack to '''''Days''''' featured music by Kansas City singer Kristie Stremel, NY based singer Jill Stevenson, and the LA Pop-Punk band, Go Betty Go. Shortly after, Moreno produced, co-starred, wrote, & directed his second effort, the short film, '''''Surrender''''', a mystery revolving around the tragic loss of a young man's girlfriend and his downward spiral. The film starred Mateo Moreno, Elizabeth Whittemore, Peter Bean, and Dina Rose Rivera, reprising her role of ''Desiree Banks'' from Moreno's first film, '''''Days'''''. Also returning was singer Kristie Stremel, who performed all of the songs in the film. The film was part of the Anthology Horror Production, '''''The Sinister Six''''', which featured six different short films by six different New York directors and premiered at ''The Anthology Film Archives'' in NYC on October 29th, 2006. In 2007, Moreno teamed up with fellow actor Jessica Savage and together they started the company, [http://www.myspace.com/afivedollarbill ''A Five Dollar Bill''] who's first project was the Horror Comedy, '''''Deadbeat''''' starring Mateo Moreno, Jessica Savage, Bryan Enk, Katie Lee, and was written & Directed by Mateo Moreno. It was featured in the second annual Anthology Horror Film, ''Son of Sinister Six'', and had its world premiere on Oct. 28th, 2007 in NYC. In 2008, Moreno will appear in Steven Soderburgh's Che Guevara film, "Guerilla," playing a Photographer, and dancing in a music video for the band, "Mates of State."
