Mateo arenas

Mateo Arenas was born in La Paz, Bolivia in April 18 1994. He is a soccer player with great skills and speed. Arenas plays as a midfield usually outside midfield or center-mid, but also as a forward.

He moved to the United States in August 2007. He lives in Bethesda, Maryland, where he first joined his first soccer team.

He played for MSC Arsenal until March 2009. Also, he was accepted after tryouts for the Maryland State Team (Olympic Development Program)for the 2008 season. Later on he was accepted for the Maryland state team (Olymipic 2009 he left MSC Arsenal to join the Bethesda Soccer Club and plays for Bethesda United. On the summer of 2009 he went to Region 1 Camp, to try-out for the Regional Team (Region 1). He was invited to go to Regional Call-back Camp later in the summer. After the Call-back Camp, Arenas was invited to play for the Regional team (Region 1 ODP) in Italy in late summer of 2009. In Italy he played against different Italian teams including teams from the Serie A like Empoli and Siena and the Swiss Regional team. Mateo played outside midfield during this trip and scored 3 goals, being the leading scorer of the team.

After this trip he went to Walter Johnson High School and played for the Varsity Soccer team as a freshman. During High school season he scored goals and assisted team mates but before play-offs started, the Bolivian National team invited Arenas to play in a South American Tournament. Later on, on December 2009, he was invited to go to the Adidas/Disney Interregional tournament with the Regional team again. After this, on February 2010, Arenas as invited to be a part of the Regional team to go Costa Rica and play against different Costarican teams. Mateo was part of the Regional team (Region 1 ODP) all the times this team had friendlies or tournaments. He currently plays for Bethesda SC, for his High school team, ODP Maryland, and ODP Region 1, and also played with the Bolivian National Team. But he could play for the U.S National team too.

Mateo Arenas is a quick player who likes to try new things, like most South American players do, but also play quick one-touch passes and shot from distance. He is 5'11 and also is left-footed.
